Myrna Romero took matters into her own hands when it came to representing Notre Dame on the high school wrestling scene.
“I started jiu jitsu when I was three years old and then I decided to create a wrestling team at Notre Dame College. I asked my principal Mr. (Andrew) Boon if we could start a wrestling team because a lot of schools had one and we didn’t. I really wanted to try something that was new and a cool experience as well. That is when I started my wrestling journey,” the Grade 10 student said.

Will Benko emptied his tank Thursday in an effort to extend his high school hoops career.
The 17-year-old, Grade 12 student netted 12 points but it wasn’t enough as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish dropped an 86-65 decision to the Saltfeet Storm in the Southern Ontario Secondary Schools Association (SOSSA) AAA boys basketball championship final at Eden.

Heading into the Niagara Catholic Athletic Association AAA championship volleyball game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the Blessed Trinity Thunder knew they had to do everything they could to stop Cassie Orr, but at the end of the day, it didn’t matter.
Orr, the Irish left-side hitter, was almost unstoppable leading her team to a three-set sweep of the Thunder, outscoring the visitors from Grimsby 25-20, 25-13, 25-16.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish senior boys basketball team was in tough Friday night in the championship quarter-finals of the 48th Annual All-Ontario Catholic Classic.
After winning their opening game, the Irish came up against top-seeded Holy Names Knights from Windsor and ended up on the wrong side of a 83-48 score.
