Maroney commits to Dartmouth

Lucas Maroney is heading to the Ivy League.
The Grade 12 student at Notre Dame has committed to attend Dartmouth in Hanover, N.H., and compete for that school’s rowing program.
Like all Ivy League schools, Dartmouth doesn’t offer athletic scholarships but Maroney will receive financial assistance from the school.
The 17-year-old Welland resident was sold on the institution after making an official visit in October.

Devost leads Irish past Reds

Devon Devost was a one-man rally Tuesday morning for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish senior boys basketball team.
With his team trailing 11-1 in the first quarter to the visiting Denis Morris Reds, the 12B student scored 11 straight points for his team and then added an assist to help his team to within 15-14 at the end of the quarter.
Then in overtime, the six-footer hit back-to-back threes to give the Irish a 63-59 lead they would not relinquish on the way to a 68-64 victory.
And when his shooting went cold, Devost came up with key assists and rebounds.

Irish topple Thunder in NCAA final

The visiting Notre Dame Fighting Irish senior girls basketball team came out flying Friday afternoon before hanging on for a 59-53 victory over the Blessed Trinity Thunder in the Niagara Catholic Athletic Association AAA championship game.
Notre Dame grabbed an early 21-6 lead and built quarter leads of 21-16, 36-31 and 52-43.
