The biggest star on Notre Dame’s star-studded roster shone brightest in Thursday night’s Niagara Catholic Athletic Association senior football final at Saint Paul.
Notre Dame 12B quarterback Marshall McCray rushed the ball 11 times for 218 yards and three touchdowns to power the Fighting Irish to a 34-14 victory over the Blessed Trinity Thunder.
McCray’s two biggest plays were a 29-yard run in the second quarter with the Irish facing a second and 20 and a 29-yard pass to Jared Tessier in the second quarter with Notre Dame gambling on a third and 17 play and only leading 14-12 at the time.

A summer of success on the water paid off in a big way Wednesday for Notre Dame’s Madeson Scott.
Prior to flying out to British Columbia to compete in the National Rowing Championships, the Grade 12 student signed on the dotted line to become a scholarship rower at NCAA Division 1 Michigan.

Notre Dame’s Dayshawn Johnson had some high points and low points during his team’s 29-7 victory over the Blessed Trinity Thunder Friday in Niagara Catholic Athletic Association senior football action.
The high points were a 71-yard TD reception and an interception while the lows were a couple thunderous hits he was on the receiving end of during the game. The first came on a kick return by the Thunder when he was blocked so hard that he landed on his helmet out of bounds. The second came when he took a wicked hit to the midsection trying to catch a ball near the end of the game. After receiving both hits, the 17-year old reacted with a huge smile on his face.

The Niagara Catholic Athletic Association defending champion Notre Dame Fighting Irish senior football team improved to 4-0 on the season with a 28-13 victory over the Saint Paul Patriots (2-2).
Notre Dame’s offence chalked up 447 total yards in the win and its defence forced six turnovers, including three interceptions.

The Saint Francis Phoenix refused to let one bad day ruin an entire week when they competed at the second Niagara College Girls Hoops Classic.
Instead of letting a 55-30 loss to the Governor Simcoe Redcoats in the qualifying round define them, the senior team from the St. Catharines rebounded and went 3-0 to win the consolation championship at the 13-team tournament.
