The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will be the centre of attention when the BPSN Girls Basketball Tournament kicks off Tuesday.
The Irish are the No. 1 seed in this year’s tournament followed by the defending champion Sir Winston Churchill Bulldogs, Eden Flyers and A.N. Myer Marauders, who round out the top four.
The Irish are off to a perfect start to their season and would love nothing more than to add a BPSN Tournament title to their resume.

The opposing coaches took different views of Tuesday’s Niagara Catholic Athletic Association senior girls AAA basketball championship game rematch.
Notre Dame captured the NCAA championship last November with a 59-53 win over the Blessed Trinity Thunder and emerged victorious again Tuesday with a 54-48 victory over the visiting Thunder.
Notre Dame coach Loris Lucchetta admitted last year’s final was on his mind.

The rematch of last season’s Niagara Catholic Athletic Association senior football championship game between the visiting Saint Michael Mustangs and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish produced the same result.
Notre Dame knocked off the Mustangs 45-7 last November and Thursday morning the Fighting Irish opened the season with a 38-0 victory.
